Councilors
Council memeber are the representatives of district constituents elected through universal, equal, direct, and secret elections. The quorum of the council is seventeen; As of July 2010, seventeen council member are serving on the council. Council member are obligated to represent the interests and rights of their constituents, to advance their welfare and to serve as their spokesperson.
Standing Committee
The Council includes a Standing Committee and a number of Special Committees. The Standing Committee is composed of the Council Steering Committee, General Services Committee, and the Citizens' Construction Committee, organized according to the tasks they perform. The Council is also responsible for writing bills and reviewing petitions. The term of the President of the Standing Committee is two years.(The council may form special committ ees such as Special Committee on Budget & appropriations Reviews for specific issues.) |
