meokgol pears
As early as the 1930's, Meokgol pears were grown in the foot of Bong hwasan. Since then, the pear fields have spread from Mukdong to Sinnae-dong, and to all of Junghwa-dong and Sangbong-dong to the south. The secr et of these exceptionally sweet, juicy Meokgol pears is in the sandy pammitic soil. Meokgol is not the name of a pear strain but of an area, more popularly known as Muk-dong.
