Building Online Networks for Community Career Rehabilitation
Project plans :
To build online networks and use mailing lists and other Internet tools to provide career rehabilitation support for the community.
Participants :
Job Security Center, Social Welfare Center, and religious groups.
Programs :
Systematic management of career rehabilitation programs and conditional job placement for the beneficiaries of National Basic Income Supports; job referrals for job-seekers and volunteers based on work-demand studies)
Strengthening Re-employment Promotion Programs
Job Search Information Center : Increase staff and equipment of the center to allow effective job searcher registration and counselling/job placement services
Centers for Job-seekers : Providing career information and advice via the Internet
Re-employment training : Held twice a year (In March and September) for three to six months, conducted by three institutes in three different fields
Implementing Public Works Projects
Project period : mid-year (Consisting of four phases)
Participants : 3,054 people (876 people for each phase)
Estimated budget : 4,653 million won in total: central government (231 million won), Seoul City government (83 million won), and the District government (86 million won)
Senior Welfare / Senior Welfare Fund
Objective : To create and operate a fund of 500 million won over five years to promote senior welfare (To raise 100 million won per year starting from the year 2001)
Fund management : The Fund will begin implementing projects in two to three years with the interest revenue generated by the fund. Planned projects include building facilities and organizations for senior citizens, job placement services, installation and management of collective workplacea to name a few.
Senior Centers
Objective : To build new senior centers and to make improvements in existing ones
Details :
-To build two new centers at Myeonmok 7 and Sangbong 1 -dong.(Estimated budget: 600 million won)
-To provide facilities for night-time electricity use, boilers, and water heaters in six existing centers (Estimated budget: fsorty-eight million won)
-To provide financial aid to 121 seniors' facilities including eighty-five senior centers (Estimated budget: 258 million won)
Senior Discount Program
Objective
To provide twenty- to fifty-percent discounts to 23,000 seniors aged sixty-five or over for services provided by 782 participating institutes, including 444 medical facilities, 332
personal service facilities, and six local bus lines.
Free Lunches for Seniors
Objective
To provide lunches to 600 seniors on a daily basis between 11:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m.
(excludingpublic holidays) at two social welfare centers, two Catholic churches, a Presbyterian church, and a senior center.
Strengthening Seniors Programs
To provide financial aid : transportation, sanitation expenses and pensions
To provide healthcare services
Clinic-on-tour (136 visits to senior centers a year)
To keep individual personal medical files for better health management
To offer customized exercise programs (forty-eight sessions a year) for twenty medical conditions including high blood pressure and diabetes
Other programs include : senior center visits, social involvement support, senior day-care centers, a home for senior citizens, outings for seniors who live alone, educational programs, domestic helpers, birthday meals, senior center safety checks, and side-dish home delivery services.
Welfare for Disabled Persons
Braille Newsletter Publication for the Blind
To publish 700 copies per month (Corresponding to the number of the blind in the district) of Seeing the World Through Fingertips" under the auspices of the Sinnae Community Welfare Center.
Cultural Festival for the Disabled
Date : April 20, 2001 (Disabled Citizens' Day)
Festival programs
ceremonial events, testimonials on overcoming disabilities, presentation of sponsored gifts, cultural events (i.e. classic orchestra, traditional percussion orchestra), talent contests, recreational events, etc.
Woman's welfare
Cultural Center for Women
Objective
To build a cultural center for women with a swimming pool, gyms, seminar rooms, and classrooms for women's courses

A 1,100-pyong building on a lot of 2,074 pyong (one basement level and three above-ground levels)

Promoting Women's Social Involvement
Women's Courses
Four three-month courses a year on eleven subjects. 1,760 participants expected.
Cultural Refinement University
Two twelve-week courses a year. Two hours a week. Up to fifty students per class.
Environmental Volunteers' Club
Convenes four times a year to clean up the environment and meets twice a year : to attend educational programs and to take part in the Han River Cleanup Project.
Bazaar
Twice a year. Sale of art work of students who completed the Women's Courses. Proceeds to be used to help the needy.
Experience-military-life camp
Opens once a year for one night and two days. Up to fifty participants per camp. The objective of the program is to help women experience military life and to test their mettle in extreme situations.

Ihwa Children's Home
Located at 709-1 Myeonmok 4-dong. Encompassing 180 pyong (one basement level and three above-ground levels), it can accommodate up to 131 children.
Dungji Children's Home
Located at 159-33 Muk 1-dong. 362 pyong (one basement level and three above-ground levels). Accommodates up to 362 children
Myeonmok 3-dong Children's Home
Located at 564-46 Myeonmok 3-dong. 150 pyong (1 basement level and 3 above-ground levels) Accommodates up to 111 children
Welfare for Adolescents and children
Building a General Training Center for Adolescents
Objective
To build a comprehensive training center for adolescents. Facilities include swimming pool, an information and data lab, a language lab, nature study fields, extreme-training fields, etc.

Free Lunches for Children
To provide 2,000-won lunches to 151 children (six preschoolers and 145 school children)
Promoting Wholesome Recreational Activities for Adolescents
Writing contest
800 contestants (300 women, 500 adolescents) for 106 prizes.
Drawing contest
3,000 children in kindergartens, elementary and junior high schools will compete for 140 prizes.
Children's Day events
To be held at the Grand Auditorium of District Town Hall, 650 participants are expected. Programs include a recognition ceremony for children who have conducted themselves in an exemplary manner.
Etiquette Classes
Twelve classes (five permanent classes and twelve temporary classes open only during vacation) for elementary and junior high students
Mix-and-mingle parties for adolescents
Eight parties per year with 1340 participants.
Other programs include volunteer activities for Eumseong Flower Neighborhood, pottery classes, musical concerts, expedition to the wetlands, dance music concerts, street basketball competition, survival games, and exploration of migratory bird sites. |
